Medicine Wheel
A tool commonly used in ceremonies, teachings, and therapies by the native people of North America and other indigenous peoples. Within the Wheel is a representation of the interconnectedness of humans and nature and the cycles of life.
Medicine wheels are constructed around the four directions of the planet - North, East, South and West.
The four directions are represented by a colour, a stage of life, a season of the year, a human aspect and an element of nature.
The representations for East are black, birth, spring, spirit and fire.
To photographically represent East the element of nature - fire has been used as the central theme. Intertwining with fire the other representations of East can be seen, felt, and imagined.
