Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Robert Frost 1920

This piece of work was inspired by the COP 26 meeting held in Glasgow in November 2021.

Climate change has been characterised by extreme weather events. In the last few years we have witnessed the vast destruction caused by fire on several continents and also the havoc that extreme cold can cause - as experienced in the Texas cold wave in February 2021 and here in the UK that April. The air frost in April 2021 destroyed my apple blossom and resulted in a very poor apple harvest that autumn. Whilst the poor quality of my apple harvest might seem trivial it serves to demonstrate the impact of climate change on all our lives, both in small and large ways.
